  • Round 16: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
  • Round 17-19: sc -30
  • Finish off

Cut felt or cardboard to the size of the bottom of the flan and slip it inside.
This will help it keep its shape when it is stuffed.

 Caramel sauce:
Work in continuous rounds
(if you made my pancakes this will be familiar)

  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: Work 6 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: Work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
  • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
  • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
  • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st

Here it gets fun and free. Chain between 3 and 7
sc back up the chain, sc into next stitch then sl st 3 and repeat. Have fun, make it random.
Leave a long tail of yarn for sewing to flan.

Assembly:

Sew caramel to the top of the flan.  I sewed just the top first, when you reach the middle mark start stuffing. On the last few stitches fill with more stuffing.
I did not like the way you could see the stitching from the top on so after I sewed on the drips of caramel I whip stitched around the edge for a smoother look.

 Optional:
Make a small flower and leaf to accent your flan.
The flower I used was just a basic crocheted flower.
The leaf was ch 6, skip first chain from hook and sc1, hdc2, sc2.
