Butternut Squash

Happy Vernal Equinox! To celebrate I made a squash.
Also Happy Hobbit Day!


What you need:
Worsted weight yarn
Size G (4.25 mm) hook
Polyester fiber fill
Yarn needle
Clip to keep place
Scissors

Top and Bottom:
Work in continuous rounds

Top:
  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 8 sc in first chain
  • Round 2: sc in each sc around, back loops only -8
  • Round 3-4: sc in each sc around
  • Finish off, leave tail of yarn to sew to top


    Bottom:






  • Chain 2
  • Round 1: work 8 sc in first chain
  • Finish off, leave tail of yarn to sew to top



  • Squash:
    Work in continuous rounds

    • Chain 2
    • Round 1: work 6 sc in first chain
    • Round 2: work 2 sc in each sc around - 12 st
    • Round 3: *2 sc in next st, sc in next st, rep from * around - 18 st
    • Round 4: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
    • Round 5: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
    • Round 6-25: sc in each sc around - 30 st
    • Round 26: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
    • Round 27: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around - 42 st
    • Round 28: *2 sc in next st, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 48 st
    • Round 29-35: sc in each sc around -48 st
    • Round 36: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 6 sts, rep from * around - 42 st
    • Round 37: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 5 sts, rep from * around - 36 st
    • Round 38: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 4 sts, rep from * around - 30 st
    • Round 39: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 3 sts, rep from * around - 24 st
    • Round 40: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 2 sts, rep from * around - 18 st 
    • Stuff firmly
    • Round 41: *Sc2tog, sc in each of next 1 sts, rep from * around - 12 st 
    • Round 42: sc2tog around -6 st
    • Finish off and weave in ends
